MORE than 100 residents have objected to a renewed bid to open a massage parlour in a residential street in Bedminster.
They oppose a revised planning application to turn a house into a parlour in British Road, just months after almost identical plans were rejected.
People living in British Road, Albert Place and Victoria Place say the plans are inappropriate and believe a massage parlour would lead to an escalation in anti-social behaviour at the junction with Cannon Street.
The Labour councillor said: “It looks like the same application coming back in.
“They may have addressed some of the comments made by the officers after their first bid but it’s the same application which has probably been tweaked around the edges.
“What we have here is a change of use from a domestic dwelling place into a place of business which would have an adverse impact on the area – on parking, road safety and amenity.
“It would lead to an incremental addition to some of the anti-social behaviour we have in the immediate locality. Nobody is in favour.”
Applicant Narges Taherzadeh wants to open the massage parlour from 10am until 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and until 1am on Friday and Saturday.
Under the plans, a new entrance to the three-storey property would be created facing East Street and a laminated sign would front British Road. Similar plans for a massage parlour were rejected in February.
The plans were refused by a planning officer on the grounds the massage parlour would cause “harm to the residential amenity of neighbouring occupiers” and neighbours would affected by “noise and disturbance associated with vehicle movements and comings and goings linked with the proposed use of the premises into the early hours of the morning”.
City council planning officers are expected to make a decision tomorrow on the latest plans, which by yesterday morning had attracted 101 objections.
Pete Wood, spokesman for the authority, said: “People still have today to submit their views.”
The Evening Post was unable to reach Miss Taherzadeh for comment.
